A new service called Space Monkey is currently under development and looking to officially launch this summer. That will provide the benefits of Cloud storage similar to Dropbox and BitTorrent. By creating a storage area within your homework that can be accessed from anywhere you wish.
The Space Monkey product was announced this week at the Launch conference, where forty cutting edge, and never-before seen, technology companies presented their concepts.
Space Monkey provides you with a 1TB drive that can then be placed on your home network and enables you to access data from it via your mobile apps or connected computers.
The best bit about the service is that within the system there is another 1TB layer that is used like a BitTorrent. With the other half being storing other users’ files broken up into little chunks like BitTorrent. Then when you need to download a file remotely Space Monkey will connect you to the peers closest to you.
Unfortunately no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet but its expected to arrive in the summer of 2012. As soon as information comes to light we will keep you updated as always.
