After first being unveiled during CES 2018 at the beginning of this year, HTC has today announced that the new highly anticipated high resolution HTC Vive Pro virtual reality headset will launch in just a few weeks time on April 5th, 2018 and is available to preorder priced at $799 or £799. HTC have also dropped the price of the original Vive VR headset down to just $499.
But remember for the $799 system you only receive the VIVE Pro Head Mounted Display only. You must have controllers and base stations to complete your VR experience. Once pre-ordered the HTC Vive Pro headset will arrive on April 5-6th 2018 and includes headset, cleaning cloth, link box, power adapter, DisplayPort cable, USB 3.0 cable, mounting pad, user guide, safety guide and warranty card.
Earlier this week it was announced that the highly anticipated Skyrim VR game will also be arriving on the PC via Steam for the HTC Vive headset on April 2nd. “VIVE Pro is the most capable, and fully featured Virtual Reality system VIVE has ever made. Designed to meet the needs of today’s most demanding VR users – from expansive office environments and crowded arcades, to the comfort of your living room. VIVE Pro surpasses the bar-setting experience to realize the most immersive virtual reality experience today.”
As well as a higher resolution the headset has been redesigned with a new face cushion and nose pad to block even more light. For more information and to place your preorder for the new HTC Vive Pro VR headset jump over to the official HTC Vive website by following the link below.
