To showcase its latest OLED display technology Mitsubishi has created a 6m wide OLED globe to take pride of place in Tokyo’s National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation. Replacing the older light emitting diode (LED) globe with scalable OLED technologies.
The new innovative OLED globe has a resolution of over 10 million pixels spread across 10,3620 PMOLED panels, each measuring 96 square millimeters, and uses the curved technology Mitsubishi showcased at ISE 2011.
The OLED globe will be used to display images of the Earth taken from a meteorological satellite, complete with cloud animations, and will be unveiled on June 11th to commemorate the museum’s 10th anniversary.
