Following on from the recent launch of its Microsoft Office suite of applications for Apple’s iPad tablet. It has now been reported that Microsoft is currently accepting applications for testers to help develop and finalise its new Office for Android tablets application.
Microsoft released an Office application for Android smartphones last year and is now hoping to follow up on the success of its Office iPad application which launched earlier this year and clocked up a massive 27 million downloads in just over 45 days after launch.
Microsoft is now looking to continue this success on Android tablets and is expected to release a touch optimised interface similar in design to that released on Apple’s iPad.
It has been revealed that Microsoft is now preparing to carry out a closed beta test for the Office Android application and is currently accepting testers via a special prerelease program. If you are interested in taking part you can register your interest via the Microsoft SharePoint website for consideration.
Microsoft is also in the process of developing a new Microsoft suite of applications for desktop Mac systems which are expected to launch sometime later this year and will support Apple’s new OS X Yosemite operating system. As more information is released we will keep you update on progress.
