Yesterday it was reported that once Microsoft closes the deal to buy Nokia’s mobile phone division and also the Lumia brand. Nokia’s mobile division currently called Nokia Oy, will be renamed to Microsoft Mobile Oy.
Now it has been announced my Microsoft that the sale of the Nokia’s mobile division is expected to be completed later this week on April 25th 2014.
Originally at the beginning of the negotiations the deal included Microsoft acquiring Nokia’s Korean manufacturing facility, however during the process the agreement has been adjusted and Microsoft will now not acquire the facility as part of the deal closing later this week. Microsoft explained a little more in their announcement :
“We are excited to share that we have completed the steps necessary to finalize Microsoft’s acquisition of the Nokia Devices and Services business. The transaction will be completed this Friday, April 25, when we’ll officially welcome the Nokia Devices and Services business as part of the Microsoft family.
The completion of this acquisition follows several months of planning and will mark a key step on the journey towards integration. This acquisition will help Microsoft accelerate innovation and market adoption for Windows Phones. In addition, we look forward to introducing the next billion customers to Microsoft services via Nokia mobile phones.”
