Back in November of last year, we heard that Microsoft spent around $100 million on the development of the Xbox One controller, and now Microsoft has revealed some more information about the Xbox One design process.
Microsoft Xbox One design Carl Ledbetter has revealed that the company built a total of 75 Xbox One prototypes before deciding on the final design of their next generation console.
“We were extremely thorough,” Ledbetter said. “We were trying to push boundaries, to do something new and inventive, but there was so much at stake that we had to be really careful as well. The reason why there was so much at stake is that people really, really care about Xbox.”
As well as 75 different designs for the Xbox One, the Xbox design team also had 100 different designes for the Xbox Kinect and 200 designs of the Xbox One controller.
“We put a lot of time into all of the details,” Ledbetter said. “The overall product is really premium. It really feels designed, engineered and crafted in quality.”
