Not too long ago, some rumors said Lenovo may stop selling small screen Windows tablets in the US due to lack of interest from the customers.
The rumors were intensifying, but Lenovo has jumped into the whole situation and mentioned they are not ditching the small size Windows tablets. The company mentioned they will continue to sell both 8 and 10-inch Windows tablets in both the US and non-US markets.
We will continue to bring new Windows devices to market across different screen sizes, including a new 8-inch tablet and 10-inch tablet coming this holiday. Our model mix changes as per customer demand, and although we are no longer selling ThinkPad 8 in the U.S., and we have sold out of Miix 8-inch, we are not getting out of the small-screen Windows tablet business as was reported by the media. In short, we will continue to sell both 8 and 10 inch Windows tablets in both the U.S. and non-U.S markets.
Lenovo said the company is no longer selling the Thinkpad 8 in the US, but they were sold out of the 8-inch Miix tablet, but that doesn’t mean that it’s ditching the tablet. The company confirmed we may see a few tablets during the holiday season, but there’s no word about the specifics and what we cold expect.
The thing is, small screen Windows tablets may not have a very high demand, we’ve seen Microsoft cancelling their Suface Mini on the last moment as well.
We’ll update you as soon as we get any information about the upcoming Windows tablets from Lenovo.
