As well as announcing their new Android 4.0 powered TV, Lenovo also added another Android tablet to their range with the launch of the Lenovo IdeaTab S2, and it looks like they may have taken some of their inspiration from the Asus Transformer Prime, as it comes with a keyboard dock.
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 comes with a 10.1 inch touchscreen IPS display, with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, plus a dual core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor and Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, plus Lenovo’s Mondrain UI.
Other specifications include a front facing 1.3 megapixel camera plus a rear 5 megapixel camera, 1GB of RAM up to 64GB of SSD storage, two USB 2.0 ports, and an SDHC card reader.
Design and Build Quality
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 boasts a sleek and modern design, making it not only functional but also aesthetically pleasing. The tablet is lightweight, which makes it easy to carry around, and the keyboard dock adds to its versatility, transforming it from a tablet to a laptop-like device. The build quality is robust, ensuring that it can withstand daily use without any issues. The keyboard dock is particularly noteworthy as it provides a comfortable typing experience, which is ideal for users who need to type documents or emails frequently.
Performance and Usability
Under the hood, the dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 MSM8960 processor ensures smooth performance, whether you’re browsing the web, streaming videos, or playing games. The 1GB of RAM, while modest by today’s standards, is sufficient for most everyday tasks. The Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich operating system, combined with Lenovo’s Mondrain UI, offers a user-friendly experience with intuitive navigation and a range of customization options.
The 10.1 inch IPS display with a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels provides vibrant colors and sharp images, making it perfect for watching movies or viewing photos. The front-facing 1.3 megapixel camera is adequate for video calls, while the rear 5 megapixel camera can capture decent photos and videos.
In terms of connectivity, the Lenovo IdeaTab S2 is well-equipped with two USB 2.0 ports and an SDHC card reader, allowing you to easily transfer files and expand storage. The tablet also supports up to 64GB of SSD storage, providing ample space for apps, media, and documents.
Battery Life and Additional Features
Battery life is another strong point of the Lenovo IdeaTab S2. The tablet itself offers a respectable battery life, but when combined with the keyboard dock, it can last even longer, making it ideal for long trips or extended use without access to a power source. This extended battery life is a significant advantage for users who need a reliable device for work or entertainment on the go.
The Lenovo IdeaTab S2 also comes with a range of pre-installed apps and features that enhance its functionality. Lenovo’s Mondrain UI adds a layer of customization and usability, allowing users to personalize their device to suit their needs. The tablet also supports various connectivity options, including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth, ensuring that you can stay connected wherever you are.
As yet we don’t have any details on when the Lenovo IdeaTab S2 will be available and also no details on how much it will cost, as soon as we get some more information we will let you guys know.
