A new tablet specifically designed for children has been unveiled this week in the form of the new LeapPad Ultra which is a 7 inch tablet that ships with a new browser which has been specifically designed to be child friendly.
The new LeapPad Ultra is fitted with a 7-inch Duo Tech display and comes with 8 GB of on-board storage together with both front and rear cameras.
The new tablet also comes with access to a app store which includes over 800 appellations that have been specifically designed for children and the interface can be tailored to the child using the tablet. LeapFrog’s CEO John Barbour explained:
“LeapPad Ultra has been designed to offer a safe and age-appropriate experience vetted by LeapFrog’s in-house learning experts. Children can explore and play on their own while parents feel confident that their children are learning and engaging in a kid-safe environment with games, activities, videos and more designed just for them. With more features, including Wi-Fi with a kid-safe browser, we believe that LeapPad Ultra will be the top item on children’s wish lists this year.”
The LeapPad Ultra tablet will be available to pre-order from July 17th , with shipping starting in early August for $150. App prices will start at $5, while physical game cartridges will cost $30.
