Kim Dotcom has launched his new encrypted video chat service, it is called MegaChat and it has been launched in beta.
You can now register to use the service over at Mega, and according to Kim Dotcom, over 500,000 encrypted video calls were made during the services first hour.
At the moment you can make both audio and video calls through MegaChat, and new features will be added in the future which will include text and video conferencing.

Kim Dotcom is looking to take on rival video chat services like Skype, although Mega differs as there is no need to download any software, the video and audio calls are done directly from your web browser.
It will be interesting to see if the software becomes popular, 500,000 calls made in the first hour is impressive, and we are looking forward to seeing how the software is developed.
