To curb the dangerous re-use of syringes, which are designed for instant throwing away, a company called Star Syringes have outed what amounts to a miracle product. Imagine a syringe that, after injecting a patient, automatically breaks, thereby making it redundant. That’s the big, innovating idea behind the K1 Auto Disposable syringe.
This novel approach to disposable syringes solves a recurring problem in health centres world wide: syringes are improperly re-used, a practice that can cause anything from infections to spreading disease.
To destroy this trend, the people at Star Syringes made sure that once the plunger has injected the fluid, it automatically locks. This renders the syringe unusable and any forceful ejection attempted will damage it.
According to their website, Star Syringe’s K1 is already an in demand medical tool in various developing countries. The K1, however, isn’t their only product. Turns out Star Syringe have designed and manufactured/licensed a whole family of syringes for use in conditions that are less than desirable for medical practice, these include an ‘anti’needlestick’ covering to prevent unnecessary punctures and specially designed squeeze syringes.
