Last year Apple won a lawsuit against Samsung, where Samsung were ordered to pay Apple over $1 billion in damages, Samsung has been appealing this decision since the original ruling in the Apple v Samsung trial.
Now it would appear that a judge has ruled in Samsung’s favor and the damages awarded to Apple have been cut down from $1 billion to $650 million, the drop of $450 million is related to 14 different Samsung products.
The judge has said that a new trial is needed relating to the 14 devices for which the $450 million was previously awarded, so this $450 million could still be awarded to Apple in the future.
We suspect this trial between Apple and Samsung will be ongoing for some time, it will be interesting to see what happens and whether the damages awarded to Apple are increased back to $1 billion.
