Jay Z’s Tidal launched a year ago today and now the company has revealed that they have a total of 3 million paid subscribers.
They also announced that they now have more that 40 million tracks available on their service as well as a range of exclusive videos.
Of the 3 million subscribers 45 percent of them are on their hi-fidelity plan which costs $19.99 a month, the other 5 percent of subscribers are on their standard plan which cost $9.99 a month.
Kanye West’s new album the Life of Pablo was made available exclusively on Tidal at launch and the company has revealed that it was streamed 250 million times in the first 10 days.
The last subscriber numbers we hard from the company were back in October of last year where they had a total of 1 million subscribers, so obviously the exclusive content that has been available on the platform has helped them increase their user base.
They are still quite a bit behind the likes of Spotify and Apple, Spotify has around 30 million paid subscribers and Apple has around 11 million.
It will be interesting to see how many subscribers Tidal has by the end of the year, if they continue to score exclusive content then they could end up growing their subscriber numbers significantly.
