Japan Display has taken the wraps of their latest high end smartphone display, the display features a WQHD resolution of 2560 x 1440 pixels.
WQHD stands for Wide Quad HD, and the display comes with a resolution of 538 pixels per inch, and the company will start high volume production of this new high end smartphone display in April.
The camera device and image processing technologies incorporated in smartphones are becoming increasingly sophisticated with every day. It is now possible to enjoy high quality images on large displays in excess of 5-inches. The product in question boasts a world-class screen resolution of 538 ppi among the volume production products. It reproduces photo images and videos more realistically than in the Full-HD format with a resolution of 1,080 horizontal pixels x 1,920 vertical pixels on smartphone displays.*2 With this product as a starter, JDI will be releasing a number of WQHD products in 2014 and it is anticipated that a new leading-edge range will emerge in the smartphone sector.
Japan Display have announced that they will also start shipping this new WQHD display to manufacturers in April, and we can expect to see these new display is smartphones this year.
As yet there are no details on which manufacturer will be the first to release a new smartphone with this WQHD display from Japan Display, as soon as we get some more information, we will let you guys know.
