Last week we had some information on the iPhone 5 release date, we heard that the iPhone 5 would go up for pre-order on the 14th of September and would go on sale on the 21st of September.
We also heard that the iPhone 5 would be sold for the same price as the current iPhone 4S, and now it looks like this is correct as a number of sites have received information which confirms that the iPhone 5 will be priced the same as the current iPhone 4S.
In the US the iPhone 5 is expected to retail for $199, $299 and $399, this is based on the current pricing when you take out a new contract with the various US mobile carriers.
We don’t as yet have any pricing details for the iPhone 5 in the UK on contract with the various mobile carriers, but if the pricing remains the same then the SIM free version of the iPhone 5 will be the same as the current iPhone 4S, which is £499, £599 and £699.
Apple are also expected to drop the price of the iPhone 4S, it will probably retail for the same as the current iPhone 4 pricing, and the iPhone 4 will also be cheaper as it is expected to replace the iPhone 3GS as Apple’s entry level smartphone.
Apple has now announced the iPhone 5, have a look at our article on the difference between the iPhone 4S and iPhone 5 to see all about the new iPhone 5.
