A new rugged Intel NUC mini PC has been introduced this week codenamed “Austin Beach”, offering a passively cooled design which is dust resistant and rugged. Created to use Intel’s new NUC Compute Element, (code-named “Chandler Bay,” the internals of the mini PC systems are upgradable.
The small rugged Intel NUC features dual M.2 2280 slots for PCIe x4 NVMe and SATA solid state drives, two HDMI 2.0a ports, Gigabit Ethernet, 3 USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, a USB 2.0 Type-A port. The mini PC also includes an expandable section that allows some systems to ship with a second Ethernet connection, USB ports, and HDMI if required.
Here are the options Intel plans to offer initially for the Chandler Bay Compute Element that powers Austin Beach but Unfortunately, no information on pricing or worldwide availability has been released as yet by Intel.
