Developers at iBrain based in San Diego, California have created a new educational platform in the form of the iBrain Digital Abacus, which has been created to provide a “child-centred educational platform” to teach mathematics and offer game-based brain training. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the digital abacus which has this week launched via Kickstarter and already raised its required pledge goal thanks to over 110 backers.
The iBrain Digital Abacus uses a custom-built tablet companion application that allows you to connect the Abacus to your tablet via a Bluetooth connection. Offering a combination of both analogue and digital appeal using the ancient Chinese calculator in a modern world environment.
Benefits of the new iBrain Digital Abacus companion application are “just about endless” say it’s creators but a few areas of consideration include improved memory, creativity, cognitive integration, self-confidence, sharper focus and improved mental mathematics.
“The left brain deals with facts and figures and is very logical while the right brain deals with creativity and works with images. Neuroscience has proven that when both sides of the brain are functioning simultaneously it processes and retains information more efficiently. The net result is improved cognitive skills in areas including Memory, Focus and Creativity.”
