Last month, Huawei announced that their new Windows Phone 8 handset, the Huawei Ascend W1, would be headed to UK mobile carrier O2. Now, O2 has listed the handset on their website with a launch date set for March.
The Huawei Ascend W1 features a 4-inch IPS LCD display with a resolution of 480 x 800 pixels. Processing is provided by a Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 1.2GHz dual-core processor, and there is also an Adreno 305 GPU to handle graphics.
Camera and Photography Features
Other specifications on the Huawei Ascend W1 include a 5-megapixel camera with auto-focus and an LED flash. This camera setup allows users to capture decent quality photos and videos, making it a suitable choice for casual photography. The camera also supports various modes and features such as panorama, HDR, and face detection, enhancing the overall photography experience. Additionally, the handset includes a front-facing VGA camera, which is useful for video calls and selfies, although the resolution is relatively low compared to modern standards.
Battery Life and Storage
The Huawei Ascend W1 is equipped with a 1950mAh battery, which provides a respectable amount of usage time. According to Huawei, the battery can last up to 470 hours on standby and up to 10 hours of talk time. This makes the device a reliable companion for daily use without the constant need for recharging.
In terms of storage, the Ascend W1 comes with 4GB of internal storage, which can be expanded via a microSD card slot supporting up to 32GB. This allows users to store more apps, photos, music, and videos without worrying about running out of space.
The handset also includes 512MB of RAM, which is sufficient for running Windows Phone 8 smoothly, although it may struggle with more demanding applications and multitasking compared to devices with higher RAM capacities.
Connectivity and Additional Features
Connectivity options on the Huawei Ascend W1 include Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1, and GPS. The device also supports 3G networks, ensuring that users can stay connected to the internet and make calls without any issues. The inclusion of GPS is particularly useful for navigation and location-based services.
The Huawei Ascend W1 runs on Windows Phone 8, offering a unique user experience compared to Android and iOS devices. Windows Phone 8 features a tile-based interface that is both intuitive and visually appealing. Users can customize their home screen with live tiles that provide real-time updates on various apps and services.
As yet, we do not have any pricing details or an exact launch date for the handset in March. As soon as we get some more details, we will let you guys know. The Huawei Ascend W1 is expected to be an affordable option for those looking to experience the Windows Phone ecosystem without breaking the bank.
