HTC One M8 owners are in for a treat as the company’s VP of Product Management Mo Versi revealed on Twitter that the handset will get Android Marshmallow.
Versi said the testing of the new operating system is complete and the update will roll out for the unlocked variant of the HTC One M8.
When asked about the update for the HTC One M9, which launched earlier this year, Versi said it’s being tested and should be ready for roll out soon — he didn’t give out an exact availability date for the roll out for the HTC One M9. The company revealed earlier that both HTC One M8 and M9 will get the new operating system by the end of the year, so there’s still time left before the year ends. We’re hoping that HTC will deliver the update soon for One M9 as well.
As for the carrier versions of the handset, the executive said they are working with them closely, but didn’t give out anything except “as soon as possible”. The carrier variants usually take some time as they have to undergo certifications and carrier testing before they are pushed out to the end users.
We’ll update you as soon as Android 6.0 Marshmallow starts rolling out for carrier versions of the HTC One M8.
