Hitachi has just unveiled its latest display creation at the FPD International. A capacitive touchscreen that can be used with a touchscreen stylus input device.
The main disadvantage of an ordinary capacitive touchscreen is that it will not react to fingers or stylus for input. The new screen form Hitachi remedies this by detecting inputs using insulating objects and converting it to capacitance. Watch the demo video after the break.
The bueaty of the new displays is that they can detect fine pressures at high performance. For instance if a 0.8 mm pen tip is used, the coordinate detection error is within 0.5 mm
Hitachi is currently looking to develop the display for release to market sometime within 2011, we will keep you posted.
