Google and Waze the company which Google purchased for a cool $1 billion back in June of this year have now started to integrate their service within Google Maps.
The latest Google Maps update for iOS and Android will now include notifications of accidents, construction, road closures and other incidents reported by Waze users.
Also the Waze app for both Android and iOS has been updated with Google Search and Waze users are now able to add incidents to Google Maps from the following countries : Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, France, Germany, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Switzerland, the U.K. and the U.S.
Although Google Maps will not directly credit Waze users by name for their incident reports, it will offer them “a much larger audience listening in on that conversation,” explained Brian McClendon, VP of Google Maps.
Waze is the world’s fastest-growing community-based traffic and navigation app and allows you to join other drivers in your area to share real-time traffic and road info, saving everyone time and gas money on their daily commute, explains Google.
The newly updated Google Maps application is now available to download from the iTunes iOS app store and the Google Play Store.
