After first being announced nearly a year ago specifications for Google Glasses have now been announced by Google, revealing what you can expect in the way of hardware within the Google Glasses eyewear.
Google has published the Google Glasses specifications on their FAQ page and explain that the design includes a adjustable nosepads and durable frame that fits any face, which are available in two sizes for comfort.
Google Glasses are also fitted with a high resolution display offering users the equivalent of a 25 inch high definition screen from eight feet away.
The camera on the new Google Glasses eyewear is 5 megapixel and capable of capturing 720p footage, with audio provided to the users using Bone Conduction Transducer technology, that sends the sounds to the inner ear through the bones of your skull.
Other features of the Google Glasses eyewear include Bluetooth and Wifi 802.11b/g connectivity, together with 12 GB of usable memory, synced with Google cloud storage, with 16 GB Flash provided with the Google Glasses in total.
Google also explains that the battery included with Google Glasses is good for a full day of use, but some features such as Hangouts and video recording, are more battery intensive. Google explains a little more about the included Micro USB cable and charger:
“While there are thousands of Micro USB chargers out there, Glass is designed and tested with the included charger in mind. Use it and preserve long and prosperous Glass use.”
Google Glasses are compatible with Any Bluetooth-capable phone, and the MyGlass companion app that enables GPS and SMS messaging requires Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich or higher to function, and is now available to download from the Google Play Store for free.
“MyGlass allows you to configure and manage your Google Glasses device. : If you don’t have Glass, then downloading this will be a waste of time. Sorry about that. But if you swipe the screenshots to the right you’ll see there’s a picture of a puppy in pajamas. So not a total waste of time after all.”
