This week Google have rolled out a new update that makes Google+ Gmail notifications a lot more useful, when keeping up to date with your Google+ streams and friends. In the past all a notification from Google+ would allow you to do would be to vie the content and follow a link to the post.
Now Google has added a wealth of new features, to help you control and manage your Google+ stream. Allowing you to now view, comment on, and +1 Google+ posts from inside your Gmail inbox.
Other new features also allow your comments to appear in your Google+ stream in real-time, and responses from others Google+ members instantly appear in Gmail, as part of the notification message. Google explains:
“You can also reply to notifications from your mobile device (and/or POP or IMAP client). Just open the notification email about the post you’re interested in, and look for the new prompt, “Reply to this email.” Tap reply, send your comment, and we’ll automatically add it to the ongoing Google+ conversation. Even if you don’t use Gmail, you can still reply-by-email from many different services.”
The new features are being rolled out by Google over the coming weeks and more information about them can be found on the official Google Blog post.
