Google has made another acquisition, this time it is iOS developer Fly Labs. The company makes a number of photo and video editing applications for Apple’s devices.
The company has said that their apps will be available for the next three months, after that there will be no more updates to their iOS app, they are joining the Google Photos team.
We’re excited to continue on our mission by joining Google and the Google Photos team in Mountain View, California. Google Photos is a home for your life’s memories, powered by Google’s machine learning and computer vision technology. It’s a perfect match for what we built at Fly Labs, and we’re looking forward to folding our technology into Google Photos. We’ll be pouring the same passion into Google Photos that we poured into Clips, Fly, Tempo and Crop on the Fly.
Fly Labs’ Innovative Applications
Fly Labs has developed several innovative applications that have gained popularity among iOS users. Their suite of apps includes Clips, Fly, Tempo, and Crop on the Fly. Each of these applications offers unique features that make photo and video editing more accessible and enjoyable. For instance, Clips allows users to create fun and engaging video montages with ease, while Tempo provides tools for adjusting the speed of video playback. Crop on the Fly offers intuitive cropping tools that make it simple to frame photos and videos perfectly.
These applications have been praised for their user-friendly interfaces and powerful editing capabilities. By integrating Fly Labs’ technology into Google Photos, Google aims to enhance its photo and video editing features, making them more robust and versatile for users.
Google Photos and Machine Learning
Google Photos is already a powerful tool for managing and organizing photos and videos. It leverages Google’s advanced machine learning and computer vision technology to offer features such as automatic photo organization, facial recognition, and smart search capabilities. With the acquisition of Fly Labs, Google Photos is expected to become even more powerful.
Machine learning plays a crucial role in Google Photos, enabling it to automatically categorize and tag photos based on their content. This technology allows users to search for specific images using keywords, such as “beach” or “birthday,” without having to manually tag each photo. Additionally, Google Photos can create automatic albums, collages, and animations from users’ photo libraries, making it easier to relive and share memories.
By incorporating Fly Labs’ technology, Google Photos will likely introduce new and improved editing tools that take advantage of machine learning. For example, users may see enhanced video editing features that automatically suggest edits or improvements based on the content of the video. Similarly, photo editing tools could become more intuitive, offering smart suggestions for cropping, color correction, and other adjustments.
As yet there are no details on exactly what Google will use Fly Labs technology for, obviously it is something new for Google Photos. As soon as we get some more details, we will let you guys know.
