Cameraman and photographer William Graham has created a new camera support and gimbal mount aptly named the GimbalGun, which provides extra support for single handle camera gambles as well as other accessories such as lighting, microphones and viewing screens. Watch the demonstration video below to learn more about the GimbalGun and its features.
Launched via Kickstarter this week the campaign is hoping to raise $15,000 over the next 43 days, with early bird pledges for first edition GimbalGun products now available from $120, offering a 40% saving of the recommended retail price. For progresses smoothly in the crowdfunding campaign is successful shipping to certain countries is expected to commence during October 2019. Graham explained a little more about the inspiration behind the unique camera mount system.
“I built the GimbalGun out of necessity. I found myself overloading my first single handle gimbal (CAME TV Optimus) with audio and lighting equipment and my monitor. My monitor was never close enough to my face for proper viewing for precise focusing and framing. Also, it was heavy! With one or even two hands, my arms got tired after long shots. Even during shooting, my arm would not stay at the same level, slowly lowering from fatigue, or jumping up.
With the GimbalGun, I can focus on focusing! Having the monitor that close to my face keeps my shots clear and concise. The shoulder strap takes away all the excess weight on the arms. Only one hand is needed to guide the GimbalGun™ allowing the other hand to follow focus, operate the camera, or simply hang out and do nothing. The GimbalGun™ can rest on your shoulder for hours with no fatigue. “
