An LG Canada spokesperson said today that the G2 won’t be getting the upgrade to Android 4.4, aka KitKat, until the latter part of the first quarter, most likely around March. There’s still no word whether or not American G2 users can expect the update sooner, later or around the same time. As it stands, late in the first quarter is around the time most other Android phones are reportedly getting KitKat, so it doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
I’m sure G2 users aren’t too upset about waiting for their chocolaty goodness update – they all got the phone for the middle button anyway right? I’m actually slightly surprised their getting the update at all. Won’t the G3 be out or almost out by then?
Jokes aside, it’s relatively good news for G2 users. Americans will likely get it shortly before Canada or at the same time, LG doesn’t tend to favor the northern part of North America more than the U.S. Just mark your calenders and plan accordingly – do you really want to get a new phone before your old one gets a major update? It’s practically a new phone by then anyway right?
Any G2 users want to share their thoughts and/or concerns?
