Ford has announced the launch of a new gadget that will bring connected features to older cars, the Ford SmartLink.
The device will allow you to bring a range of connected features to vehicles from 2010 to 2016 that don’t come with these features.
Enhancing Older Models with Modern Connectivity
The Ford SmartLink is designed to bridge the gap between older car models and the latest in automotive technology. This innovative device plugs into the OBD-II port of compatible Ford and Lincoln vehicles, enabling a suite of modern features that were previously unavailable in these models. These features include remote start, lock and unlock capabilities, 4G Wi-Fi hotspot, vehicle health and security alerts, and more.

With more than two years of research and development invested, the Ford SmartLink team of engineers, in collaboration with Delphi Automotive and Verizon Telematics, have ensured the technology will work seamlessly with Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

The development of Ford SmartLink involved a significant collaboration between Ford engineers, Delphi Automotive, and Verizon Telematics. This partnership ensured that the device would integrate smoothly with the existing systems in Ford and Lincoln vehicles. The extensive testing and development process, which spanned over two years, focused on creating a reliable and user-friendly product that enhances the driving experience.
For example, the 4G Wi-Fi hotspot feature allows passengers to connect up to eight devices, making long road trips more enjoyable and productive. The vehicle health alerts provide real-time updates on the car’s performance, helping owners stay on top of maintenance and avoid potential issues. Additionally, the security alerts can notify owners of any unauthorized access or tampering, adding an extra layer of protection.
