Flipboard the social-network aggregation magazine styled app which is available for Android and iOS devices has this week announced the launch of a new service which will provide users with new shopping magazine catalogues which will include links to purchasing pages.
The new Catalog creation feature has been added to the Flipboard application to enable e-commerce brands to transform their online stores into browsable browsable product catalogues complete with pricing and purchase buttons.
The new service also allows everyday users to build their own catalogues using an updated “flip.it” button for web browsers. Flipboard has also partnered with a number of new catalogue and online stores such as eBay, Banana Republic, Fab, Birchbox, and ModCloth, as well existing partners like Etsy and Levi’s.
At the moment and businesses interested in publishing their very own catalogue of products through the application will need to contact its developers directly as no DIY publishing tools have been created as yet. Flipboard CEO Mike McCue explains a little more:
“You can see the parallel here with Flipboard Pages where we paginate article content. We did that with at first with about eight publishers, and over time, we’ve added hundreds to the mix,” he says. “We’re going to do the same thing on the retail side.”
For more information on the new service jump over to the Flipboard application website for details on setup and contacts.
