Mozilla has announced that they are expanding their Firefox OS in more countries, the company has formed a number of new partnerships in Europe and Latin America.
They have teamed up with Deutsche Telethom to launch the new Alactal OneTouch Fire E smartphone in Germany, they will also launch the device with the carrier in Croatia, the Czech Republic, Montenegro and Macedonia.
“Firefox OS has emerged out of the ‘other’ category as one of the top platforms for the global smartphone industry,” said Neil Mawston, Executive Director, Global Wireless Practice (GWP) at Strategy Analytics. “Strong interest from major operators and hardware makers has enabled Firefox OS to make headway in key regions and challenge established software players.”
The new Firefox OS devices will also be headed to Latin America, which will include Argentina and Ecuador with more devices being launched in these countries on top of the existing ZTE handsets that are available, these new devices will launch before the end of the year.
