In-Depth Look at Civilization: Beyond Earth—Rising Tide
The Firaxis Games teams discuss the varying approaches to design while also providing fans with an in-depth look at Rising Tide’s new diplomacy system and hybrid Affinities. The new diplomacy system in Rising Tide is a significant evolution from the original game, offering players more dynamic and strategic interactions with other factions. This system allows for more nuanced negotiations and alliances, making the gameplay experience richer and more engaging.
Hybrid Affinities are another exciting addition to Rising Tide. These allow players to combine different Affinities, creating unique strategies and playstyles. For example, a player might blend the Harmony and Supremacy Affinities to create a faction that uses advanced technology to enhance biological life. This opens up a plethora of new tactical options and adds depth to the game.
The game also introduces new aquatic gameplay elements, allowing players to explore and exploit the oceans of alien planets. This adds a new layer of strategy, as players must now consider naval units and underwater resources in their plans. The inclusion of new biomes and alien creatures further enriches the game’s world, making exploration and expansion more intriguing.
Exciting New Features in XCOM 2
As well as revealing new aliens and enemies fans can look forward to dealing with in the new XCOM 2 game. XCOM 2 builds on the success of its predecessor by introducing a host of new features and improvements. One of the most notable additions is the procedural map generation, which ensures that each mission is unique. This adds a significant replayability factor, as players will face different challenges and environments each time they play.
The game also introduces new enemy types, such as the Faceless, a shape-shifting alien that can disguise itself as a human civilian. This adds an element of uncertainty and tension to missions, as players must be constantly vigilant for hidden threats. The Advent, a human-alien hybrid faction, also presents new tactical challenges with their advanced technology and coordinated tactics.
XCOM 2 also features a revamped soldier customization system, allowing players to create and personalize their squad members in greater detail. This includes new classes, abilities, and equipment, giving players more options to tailor their team to their preferred playstyle. The game also introduces a new stealth mechanic, allowing players to ambush enemies and set up tactical advantages before engaging in combat.
