Last week when Valve released the latest version of their DotA 2 Workshop tools in the form of Hammer, there was great excite as it seems to be that Valve has quietly released its highly anticipated Valve Source 2 games engine to the world as well without any official announcement or fan fair.
If you are still a little unsure what the new Valve Source 2 games engine is, Tyler McVicker has kindly put together a video that includes all the information that has been leaked and officially mentioned about the new Source 2 games engine created by Valve.
Different rumours are circulated suggesting that the released code for Source 2 might only be snippets of the full engine but many developers are considering this to be the full Source 2 game engine within the DotA source code.
“The general consensus around the Source reverse engineering community is that this is really Source 2.” writes RoyAwesome over on the Dota 2 subReddit forum.
Its also thought that the new Source 2 games engine will power Valve’s new Half-Life 3 game that is apparently under development but has yet to even be officially announced by Valve.
