As most of us already know sitting at a desk for too long can be detrimental to your health, but unfortunately having to work on computer long hours a day sometimes means that our health is affected.
Elevate is a new solution created by Elevate Workstations that has been designed to transform any desk into a standing desk by simply adding the structure on top of your desk surface.
The Elevate standing desk project is currently over on the Kickstarter crowd funding website looking to raise enough pledges to make the jump from concept to production. Its creators explain a little more about the design and health benefits of using the Elevate.
“Elevate makes it possible to use any existing desktop or table surface as a standing workstation for your laptop. Made from naturally strong birch ply, the Elevate has a modern, sustainable aesthetic to suit any environment. The research and evidence is undeniable – we all need to better balance how long we spend sitting vs standing.
Elevate is designed and manufactured in beautiful New Zealand. Manufactured and distributed from Auckland, we are using a state of the art Thermwood CNC Router to cut our unit parts from 12mm Birch ply. Once initial units are cut, each unit is then finished off by hand. Super efficient ‘nesting’ software allows for a minimum of waste.
Choosing the correct size compression cutter gives us an extremely clean cut that requires only the minimal of hand sanding, creating a natural modern look. Leaving the plywood surface unsealed will reduce allergy concerns and allow our customers the choice of finishers. Either way, the unit looks great without use of oil, wax or polyurethane.”
So if you think Elevate is something your health could benefit from, visit the Kickstarter website now to make a pledge and help the Elevate standing desk become a reality.
