Ducati has this week announced the launch of a new version of its Multistrada 1200 sports-tourer, that now includes new technology designed to wirelessly inflate airbag jackets for both rider and passenger in the event of a crash, in the firm of the Multistrada D-Air system.
The new bike technology is a worlds first and is fitted with a fully integrated, intelligent system of sensors that wirelessly connected to the new Ducati Apparel airbag jackets which have been designed and created by Daines.
The Multistrada D-Air system has been created to analyse data and airbag deployment inside both the rider and passenger jackets, and can deploy the airbags in just 45 milliseconds when required, considerably reducing the risk of injury upon impact. Ducati explains a little more:
“Ducati’s premiere of the technology, developed in cooperation with Dainese, further underlines the Italian motorcycle manufacturer’s commitment to enhanced safety, already represented by their Ducati Safety Pack consisting of multi-level ABS and traction control.
More information on the Ducati Multistrada D-Air will be released on 15 April and the innovative new model will be available in European Ducati Dealerships from May 2014 onwards.”
