First Spark Gear has created a new camera gimbal and camera shoulder mount which allows you to capture professional footage without investing thousands on expensive gear.
The DAISHO camera gimbal and mount has launched Kickstarter this week to raise the $27,000 it requires to go into production. The motorised camera gimbal system can be seen in more detail in the video.
The developers of DAISHO explain a little more about its design.
The DAISHO fits any gimbal top bar 30mm – 24mm in diameter (Ronin 30mm, Ronin-M 25mm, MōVI 25mm, etc.) Rather than creating proprietary parts, forcing consumers to buy yet more gear, the DAISHO is designed to accept industry standard 15mm rods and uses standard M5 bolts.
The DAISHO is precision CNC machined in California of aircraft grade 7075 aluminum alloy, an ultra-lightweight aluminum with the strength of steel. Other gimbal support system that are available to take the exhausting strain of carrying a loaded gimbal off your arms and back tend to be rather ridiculous backpack contraptions costing thousands of dollars.
Whether overhead backpack supports or ludicrous exoskeletal arm supports, the “solutions” made available to us as camera operators seem not to be designed by actual filmmakers. These systems still require operators to hold their hands above their heads and strain our necks to see monitors.
