Corsair has announced this week that it has now updated its Corsair Flash Voyager GT and Survivor flash USB drives to support USB 3.0 transfer rates. All are fully backward compatible with USB 2.0 and are still one of the fastest USB 2.0 drives on the market.
The Flash Voyager GT USB 3.0 now provides data transfer rates of up to four times the speed of USB 2.0 drives, and even twice the speed of standard USB 3.0 flash drives. Corsair’s 64GB model now provides a maximum read speed of 135 MB/sec and a maximum write speed of 83 MB/sec.
Flash Survivor USB 3.0 pictured above uses the same design as previous Survivor models and is constructed from anodized aircraft-grade aluminum housing, waterproof to 200 meters, and shock and vibration-resistant providing incredibly rugged protection for your important data. All now with USB 3.0 support.
Enhanced Performance and Speed
The transition to USB 3.0 technology marks a significant improvement in data transfer speeds for Corsair’s Flash Voyager GT and Survivor USB drives. USB 3.0, also known as SuperSpeed USB, offers a theoretical maximum data transfer rate of 5 Gbps, which is ten times faster than USB 2.0’s 480 Mbps. This leap in performance means that users can transfer large files, such as high-definition videos, extensive photo libraries, and complex software applications, in a fraction of the time it would take with USB 2.0.
For example, transferring a 10GB file with a USB 2.0 drive might take around 5 minutes, whereas with the new USB 3.0 Flash Voyager GT, this time could be reduced to just over a minute. This enhancement is particularly beneficial for professionals who handle large amounts of data regularly, such as video editors, photographers, and software developers.
Durability and Reliability
The Flash Survivor USB 3.0 continues Corsair’s tradition of creating robust and reliable storage solutions. The drive’s anodized aircraft-grade aluminum housing is not just for show; it provides exceptional durability, making the drive resistant to physical damage. This is particularly useful for users who need to carry their data in challenging environments, such as construction sites, outdoor expeditions, or military operations.
Moreover, the waterproof feature, which allows the drive to withstand submersion up to 200 meters, ensures that data remains safe even if the drive is accidentally dropped in water. The shock and vibration resistance further protect the drive from damage due to drops or rough handling. These features make the Flash Survivor USB 3.0 an ideal choice for users who require a dependable and sturdy storage solution.
In addition to its physical robustness, the Flash Survivor USB 3.0 also includes features that enhance data integrity and security. For instance, the drive supports wear-leveling technology, which prolongs the lifespan of the flash memory by evenly distributing write and erase cycles. This ensures that the drive remains reliable over extended periods of use.
Corsair’s commitment to quality is evident in the design and performance of these updated USB drives. By incorporating USB 3.0 technology, Corsair has not only improved the speed and efficiency of data transfers but also maintained the high standards of durability and reliability that users have come to expect from the Flash Voyager GT and Survivor series.
