Canoeists may be interested in a new collapsible kayak which uses a unique design enabling the pieces to nest inside itself for easy storage and transportation. The Pakayak Bluefin 142 kayak has launched via Kickstarter this week and is now available to back with earlybird pledges available from $675 or roughly £527. Check out the video below to learn more about the Pakayak Bluefin 142 collapsible kayak which will be shipping out to backers during June 2020.
“Introducing the Bluefin 142 – with 3 ½ more inches of legroom in the cockpit. The new model is 2 inches longer and yet, like magic, it packs down to the same size, 3 ½ feet! What we care about most is bringing the joy of kayaking to more people. We think kayaking is one of the best things you can do in your free time. Just inches off shore equals instant vacation. Yet, it can be difficult to have a kayak in some of the places that we live. Often getting it to and from the water requires a pickup truck, a roof rack and a buddy. And, for all of you who live in the city, it’s next to impossible. Our nesting kayak solves these issues without sacrificing performance. “
“Just like the original Bluefin 14, the Bluefin 142 has bombproof construction, tongue and groove connections and clamps that apply 500 pounds of holding force (EACH) and squeeze a silicone gasket making it completely watertight – we promise! And, it assembles in less than 3 minutes.”
“As is the nature of product development, we are constantly evolving. We wanted to improve on the original and provide a kayak that is a good fit for more people. We listened to our customers, “Can you please make one that my husband will fit into?” (yes, someone actually wrote that). We went back to the drawing board and have made a 2 inch longer boat with 3½ inches more legroom that packs down to the same size. Like Magic! AND, current Bluefin 14 owners will be able to swap out just 2 sections that fit in their boat and also fit in their original bag. “
