If you are looking for a smartphone desktop phone that the standard run of the mill devices currently available, you might be interested in the new Cisco DX650 which has been designed to run Google’s Android 4.01 operating system.
The Cisco DX650 desk phone is equipped with a 7 inch backlit, WSVGA capacitive touchscreen LCD display offering a resolution of 1024 x 600 pixels and supports wired and 802.11a/b/g/n wireless connectivity.
The Cisco DX650 is powered by a TI OMAP 4460 1.5 GHz supported by supported by 1GB of RAM and includes 8 GB eMMC flash memory for contact storage and the like. Its also fitted with a front facing HD 1080p (30fps) web camera offering real-time video communication with “Cisco TelePresence interoperability and other H.264 video endpoint interoperation”.
Other features of the Cisco DX650 include the ability for it to access Microsoft Outlook using an ActiveSync connection and includes integrated VPN services with Cisco AnyConnect Secure Mobility Client. Cisco explains a little more:
“Midsized and enterprise businesses can introduce new ways of collaborating with the DX650. This smart-desk endpoint simplifies workflows and boosts the productivity of employees who work at a desk. Staff can work their way, whether at corporate or branch locations; in open office environments, virtual offices or shared workspaces; or when teleworking.”
