Something3D has this month unveiled a new full color desktop 3D printer the company has created in the form of the STD3 Chameleon, that has been created to provide a maximum 3D printing size of 300 x 300 x 340 mm.
Other features of the desktop STD3 Chameleon full color 3D printer, include a heated bed and connectivity to either Mac or PC via a USB port or standalone use via the integrated SD Card Slot.
The STD3 Chameleon is fitted with one full colour 3D printing head and is capable of printing at 50 micron layer thicknesses and a 0.5 mm wall thickness, using 1.75 mm ABS, PLA filaments. Something3D co-founder and CEO Itzik Molcho explains :
“The STD3 Chameleon is a full package of innovative hardware, software and user friendly GUI, enabling users to print their models in full color, including intricate textures.”
The Chameleon full color desktop 3D printer uses software in the form of Cura, ColorIT and is capable of printing at 70-100 mm/s speeds using Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF).
