A rumour had emerged over the weekend from China that Canon is currently working on a new micro four thirds size mirrorless camera called the Canon EIS 60.
According to the Chinese forum, the new Canon camera will capture video in 1080p at 30, 24, and 25fps. This capability is expected to appeal to both amateur and professional videographers who are looking for high-quality video recording in a compact form factor.
Advanced Features and Specifications
The Canon EIS 60 will also be equipped with a LCD touchscreen, making it easier for users to navigate through settings and review their shots. The inclusion of dual SD memory slots is a significant advantage, allowing photographers to have ample storage space and the option to separate different types of media files.
The camera will feature an ISO range of 100 – 6400 natively, which can be expanded to 25 – 25600. This wide ISO range will enable photographers to shoot in various lighting conditions, from bright daylight to low-light environments, without compromising image quality.
Lens Options and Compatibility
There will be two lens kits available for the Canon EIS 60: a 12-75mm f2.8-4.0 IS Macro and a 75-300mm f3.5-5.6 IS. These lenses cover a broad range of focal lengths, making the camera versatile for different types of photography, including macro, portrait, and telephoto shots.
In addition to the lens kits, the full lens choices will include a 5mm F4 fisheye, 8-25mm F4 wide-angle zoom, 14mm F2 pancake, 25mm F1.2 pancake, 45mm F1.5 pancake, and 65mm F2.0 Macro. These lenses provide photographers with a variety of creative options, from ultra-wide-angle shots to detailed close-ups.
The new Canon EIS 60 is also reportedly going to be compatible with EF lenses via an EF – EIS adapter. This compatibility will be a significant advantage for existing Canon users who already own EF lenses, as it allows them to use their current lenses with the new mirrorless camera without needing to invest in new glass.
Moreover, the camera is expected to feature advanced autofocus capabilities, which will be crucial for capturing fast-moving subjects and ensuring sharp images.
