Cadillac is set to officially unveil the sweet ATS-V performance car at the LA Auto show soon. Ahead of that official unveil, all the details on the car along with photos have now leaked. The ATS-V looks to be a very impressive car. In the photos, we see a car with a wide valance in the front with lots of cooling slots to keep that powerful engine frosty. The car also has some carbon fiber tidbits all around and upgraded brakes and tires.
The car is powered by a twin-turbo 3.6L V6 that produces 450hp. GM is aiming the ATS-V directly at the BMW M4. There is no word on how much the car weighs or if it’s designed to handle well. American automakers sometimes forget handling is as important as straight-line power.
Hopefully GM remembered this and the ATS-V will be as at home on the track and in the twisties of the back roads as it is cruising in town and speeding up on ramps. It appears that the car has an actual manual transmission option. What remains to be seen is how much it costs. If GM wants to take aim at the M4, the car needs to be cheaper. GM seems to think anything made by one of its brands deserves a premium.
