This week Bungie has announced that anyone still considering whether or not to purchase their latest Destiny blockbuster game. Can now play Destiny for free and carry through their progress through to the full game if they decide to purchase it.
Both the Destiny free Trial and Destiny Demo are available on next-generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One as well as all the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles.
Be warned though, the Destiny free Trial and Demo software are approximately the same size as the full retail versions of Destiny and require 20GB of disk space on the latest generation PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles and 6GB of disk space on the older Xbox 360 and PS3. Bungie explains a little more about the character and progress transfer :
“Assuming you purchase the full retail copy of Destiny on the same console platform family you played the Destiny Trial or Demo on. For example, you may not transfer your progress from the Destiny Demo on Xbox 360 to the full retail version of Destiny on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 3.
Progress is always shared automatically within the same console family on the Destiny servers. No action on your part is required.
The Destiny Trial on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One can be upgraded via the in game menu. You will not be required to download the full retail game or purchase a disc. To get the full version of Destiny on PlayStation 3 or Xbox 360, purchase Destiny from your local retailer, the Xbox Store, or the Playstation Store. Once you have launched the full version of Destiny, and confirmed that your existing character progression can be selected, you may delete the Destiny Demo file, as you will no longer require it.”
