Apple only releases one of two models of their iPhone each year, this strategy works very well for the company and now BlackBerry has plans to do something similar.
In a recent interview BlackBerry CEO, John Chen confirmed that the company will cut down the amount of handsets they release each year from around four to just one or two handsets.
He also mentioned that the company intends to offer a device for people why use a device like Apple’s iPhone for personal usage and a BlackBerry for work, this device would probably combine the features of both handsets.
Whether BlackBerry are capable of producing a new smartphone that would be people who use their iPhone as a personal device to switch to a BlackBerry remains to be seen.
It will be interesting to see what the company comes up with and whether focusing on just one or two devices will be a strategy that works for them.
