It looks like Best Buy is about to start a promotion that allows users to walk-in any Best Buy store and trade any smartphone for a minimum credit of $100 towards a new iPhone 5S or iPhone 5C. In addition, the user must sign a two-year contract when purchasing the new iPhone.
Currently, Apple iPhone 5S is available for $199 with a two-year contract while the colorful iPhone 5C is available for $99 on-contract for the 16GB version. This promotion will bring the price of the iPhone 5S down to $99 and will cover the complete initial cost if you opt for an iPhone 5C.
The folks at TechnoBuffalo managed to get hold of an internal Best Buy document that states the $100 trade-in promotion will last for almost a week, from October 13th to October 19th. The offer allows users to trade-in any working smartphones – handsets with cracked screen or water damaged and must turn on at the time of trade-in to be considered working. In return, you will get at least $100 Best Buy gift card, which can only be used to purchase the new iPhone 5S and iPhone 5C with a new two-year contract. If you don’t remember, the retailer was offering a $50 Best Buy gift card with every iPhone 5C purchase earlier this month.
The trade-in value varies with the condition of the handset. Before you pay your nearest Best Buy a visit, make sure you have all the original accessories and the box of the handset. Another important thing to note here is that the promotion will not be available in all Best Buy locations, so it’s better to call your nearest one before paying a visit.
