When I first saw the source article for iDoorCam, I wanted nothing more than to ridicule it for the lazy name and cheesy premise. After watching the video below, I can’t deny I’m intrigued.
iDoorCam is a simple device with a camera and a button that pretty much takes the place of your doorbell. When the button is pressed, an alert is sent to your phone, which is acceptable by anyone set up to receive iDoorCam alerts from your device. After accepting, the device connects to your phone via the internet and shows you a live feed of your door front via a small web camera embedded in the device. You can then talk to them through the device’s speakers, or ignore the people at your door altogether.
The only problem is that it’s actually by Apple, meaning it only works with the iPhone or iPad. If it takes off, I’m sure someone will find a way to make it Android friendly. Really it’d be only smart for Apple to work with Android and others to try to reach more customers.
The device costs $165 and is expected to be available by October! Are you going to get one?
