Making yourself stand out from the crowd with your business card isn’t easy, we have seen some cool different business cards here on geeky gadgets, like the Google business card and the FaceBook business card, but this new one from James Alliban is by far the coolest we have seen, the Augmented Reality Business Card. Augmented reality is an interactive experience of a real-world environment where the objects that reside in the real world are enhanced by computer-generated perceptual information, sometimes across multiple sensory modalities, including visual, auditory, haptic, somatosensory and olfactory.
There’s not really enough space on a business card to explain yourself in any detail so I thought I’d extend it using augmented reality. I recorded a short video bio and created a 3D grid of coloured planes. These planes are updated with the colours from the video and extruded depending on the level of brightness.
Head on over to James’s website for more details.
