AT&T has announced the launch of a new device on its network, although it is not a smartphone but a car connected device called the Harman Spark.
The Harman Spark is available for $79.99 and then it is connected to an AT&T Plan with prices starting at $5 a month.
“With HARMAN Spark, just about any car can be transformed into an LTE connected car,” said Chris Penrose, President, Internet of Things Solutions, AT&T. “You get the most advanced connected services available on new cars plus some that you can’t get anywhere else.”
“Consumers today are looking for simple devices that make their lives efficient and seamless. HARMAN Spark allows them to easily and affordably transform older vehicles into smart cars of the future with connected applications,” added Sanjay Dhawan, HARMAN CTO and President, HARMAN Connected Services.
Features and Benefits of Harman Spark
The Harman Spark offers a range of features that can significantly enhance the driving experience. One of the primary benefits is the ability to transform almost any car into an LTE connected vehicle. This means that even older models can enjoy the perks of modern connectivity without the need for a complete upgrade.
Some of the key features include real-time tracking, which allows you to monitor the location of your vehicle at any time. This can be particularly useful for parents who want to keep an eye on their teenage drivers or for anyone concerned about vehicle theft. Additionally, the device offers diagnostics and alerts, providing insights into the health of your car. This can help you stay ahead of maintenance issues and avoid costly repairs.
Another notable feature is the Wi-Fi hotspot capability, which can support up to eight devices. This is perfect for long road trips, allowing passengers to stay connected and entertained. The Harman Spark also includes roadside assistance and emergency crash assistance, adding an extra layer of safety and peace of mind.
How to Get Started with Harman Spark
Getting started with the Harman Spark is straightforward. Once you purchase the device for $79.99, you can connect it to an AT&T plan with prices starting at just $5 a month. This makes it an affordable option for anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle’s connectivity.
To install the Harman Spark, simply plug it into your car’s OBD II port, which is typically located under the dashboard. The device is compatible with most cars manufactured after 1996. Once installed, you can download the Harman Spark app on your smartphone to start using all the features.
The app provides a user-friendly interface where you can access real-time data, set up alerts, and manage your Wi-Fi hotspot. It also allows you to track your vehicle’s location and receive notifications if any issues are detected.
