The Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom was announced at CES last week and now we have some details on how much the handset will cost.
Asus has revealed that the 128GB model will cost CNY 3,699, this is about $533 at the current exchange rate, the device will go on sale next month.
Key Features and Specifications
As a reminder, the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom comes with a 5.5 inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1920 x 1080 pixels, providing vibrant colors and sharp details. The handset is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 processor, which is known for its balance of performance and power efficiency. This makes the device suitable for both everyday tasks and more demanding applications.
One of the standout features of the ZenFone 3 Zoom is its massive 5000 mAh battery. This large battery capacity ensures extended usage time, making it ideal for users who are always on the go and do not want to be tethered to a charger. According to Asus, the battery can last up to 42 days on standby, 48 hours of talk time, or 25 hours of web browsing.
Advanced Camera System
The handset also comes with an impressive dual-camera system on the back. There are two 12 megapixel cameras, each serving a different purpose. The primary camera features a 25mm wide-angle lens with an f/1.7 aperture, which allows for excellent low-light performance and a shallow depth of field, making it perfect for portrait shots and close-ups. The secondary camera has a 59mm lens, which provides 2.3x optical zoom, allowing users to get closer to their subjects without losing image quality.
In addition to the dual-camera setup, the ZenFone 3 Zoom includes several advanced photography features. It supports 4K video recording, and the camera software includes a variety of modes such as Super Resolution, which combines multiple images to create a single high-resolution photo, and Depth of Field, which simulates the bokeh effect typically seen in DSLR cameras.
The front-facing camera is also noteworthy, featuring a 13 megapixel sensor with an f/2.0 aperture. This makes it ideal for selfies and video calls, ensuring clear and detailed images even in less-than-ideal lighting conditions.
Design and Build Quality
The Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom boasts a sleek and stylish design, with a metal body that feels premium in hand. It measures 154.3 x 77 x 7.99 mm and weighs 170 grams, making it relatively lightweight and easy to handle. The device is available in several color options, including Navy Black, Glacier Silver, and Rose Gold, catering to different aesthetic preferences.
The handset also includes a fingerprint sensor on the back, providing an additional layer of security and convenience. This allows users to unlock their device quickly and securely with just a touch.
Software and Additional Features
The ZenFone 3 Zoom runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow out of the box, with Asus’ ZenUI 3.0 skin on top. ZenUI offers a range of customization options and additional features, such as the ZenMotion gesture controls, which allow users to quickly access apps and functions with simple gestures.
Other notable features include dual SIM support, which is useful for users who need to manage two phone numbers, and expandable storage via a microSD card slot, allowing users to increase the device’s storage capacity up to an additional 2TB.
Overall, the Asus ZenFone 3 Zoom is a well-rounded smartphone that offers a compelling combination of advanced camera capabilities, long battery life, and a premium design. With its competitive pricing, it is poised to be a strong contender in the mid-range smartphone market.
