This week Asus has unveiled a new addition to their range of motherboards, introducing the ASUS Prime J4005I-C mini ITX form factor motherboard based on Intel “Gemini Lake” Celeron J4005 SoC. Asus have equipped the new motherboard with 5X Protection II, meaning the motherboard includes the “finest components, excellent circuit design, and exacting standards to guarantee quality” for long term durability.
Other features include no PCIe card slots, although however, there’s a fair a bit of PCIe-based connectivity with a passively-cooled SoC thanks to the addition of an aluminium heatsink. Power to the motherboard is provided via a combination of 24-pin ATX and 4-pin ATX power connectors.
Asus is also included two DDR4 DIMM slots capable of supporting up to 8 GB of dual-channel DDR4-2400 memory. Connectivity for storage is provided by SATA 6 Gbps ports, and an M.2 (M-key) slot with PCIe gen 2.0 x2 wiring and a second M.2 (E-key) slot has gen 2.0 x2 wiring. Together with support and the ability to add Wi-Fi and Bluetooth cards if desired.
