A new video trailer with developer commentary has been released by Ubisoft for their highly anticipated new sequel in the Assassin’s Creed trilogy, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations.
The new game continues the theme of an open world as in the first two games but brings with it a few new items to Ezio’s arsenal. One of which is the hookblade, which can be used to zipline across the city or grab enemies to yank them in for a combo attack. Watch the single player walkthrough after the jump.
New Features and Gameplay Mechanics
Below is the walkthrough with developer commentary. The new Assassin’s Creed: Revelations will be released on PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 on 15 November 2011. Ubisoft has indicated that it will be the last installment featuring Ezio and Altaïr.
In addition to the hookblade, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations introduces several other new gameplay mechanics and features. Players will have access to a variety of bombs, each with different effects, allowing for more strategic approaches to combat and stealth. The game also includes an enhanced Eagle Vision, now called Eagle Sense, which allows Ezio to predict enemy movements and better navigate the environment.
The story of Assassin’s Creed: Revelations is set in Constantinople, where Ezio must uncover the secrets of Altaïr’s library. The game promises to tie up loose ends from the previous titles, providing a satisfying conclusion to the stories of both Ezio and Altaïr. Players will also experience flashbacks to Altaïr’s life, offering a deeper understanding of his character and motivations.
Multiplayer Enhancements
Assassin’s Creed: Revelations also expands on the multiplayer component introduced in Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. The multiplayer mode features new characters, maps, and game modes, providing a more robust and engaging experience. Players can customize their characters with various abilities and perks, allowing for a more personalized gameplay experience.
The multiplayer storyline is set within the framework of Abstergo Industries, the modern-day front for the Templar Order. Players take on the role of Templar agents in training, using the Animus to relive the memories of various Assassins. This narrative context adds an extra layer of depth to the multiplayer experience, making it more than just a series of disconnected matches.
Ubisoft has also introduced a new feature called “Deathmatch,” which removes the compass used to locate targets, making the gameplay more challenging and requiring players to rely on their observation skills. Another new mode, “Artifact Assault,” is a capture-the-flag style game that encourages teamwork and strategy.
Overall, Assassin’s Creed: Revelations promises to be a fitting conclusion to the stories of Ezio and Altaïr, while also pushing the series forward with new gameplay mechanics and an enhanced multiplayer experience. Fans of the series will undoubtedly be excited to see how the narrative threads are tied together and to explore the new features and improvements that Ubisoft has implemented.
