Earlier we heard that Apple had released iOS 11 beta 4 and now we have a speed test video of the OS against the current software, iOS 10.3.3 vs iOS 11 Beta 4.
In the video below we get to see iOS 11 beta running against iOS 10.3.3. The tests are being run on two iPhone 6S handsets side by side.
As we can see from the video, iOS 10.3.3 booted up faster. Although iOS 11 appears to be faster in some of the tests. We suspect that by the time iOS 11 is released, it will bring a number of improvements and also be faster than the current OS.
Performance Enhancements in iOS 11
iOS 11 is expected to bring a host of performance enhancements and new features that will make it a significant upgrade over iOS 10.3.3. One of the key areas of improvement is multitasking. Apple has introduced a new app switcher and drag-and-drop functionality, which will make it easier for users to manage multiple apps simultaneously. This is particularly beneficial for iPad users who often use their devices for productivity tasks.
Another area where iOS 11 shines is in its optimization for augmented reality (AR). With the introduction of ARKit, developers can create immersive AR experiences that were not possible on previous versions of iOS. This could potentially revolutionize the way we interact with apps and games on our devices.
New Features and User Experience
In addition to performance enhancements, iOS 11 brings a slew of new features designed to improve the overall user experience. The Control Center has been completely redesigned, offering more customization options and a more intuitive layout. Users can now add or remove shortcuts, making it easier to access the features they use most frequently.
The Files app is another notable addition, providing a centralized location for all your documents and files. This app supports not only local storage but also cloud services like iCloud, Dropbox, and Google Drive, making it easier to manage your files across different platforms.
Siri has also received a significant upgrade in iOS 11. The virtual assistant now features more natural-sounding voices and can perform more complex tasks. Siri can now translate languages, provide more contextual information, and even suggest actions based on your usage patterns.
Apple has yet to give a specific release date for iOS 11, all we know is that it will be released sometime in the fall. Apple is rumored to launch their new iPhone 8 in September, which will come with iOS 11. So we can expect the iOS 11 software update for existing iPhones and iPads around the same time.
In conclusion, while iOS 10.3.3 may currently have a slight edge in boot-up speed, iOS 11 promises to bring a wealth of new features and performance improvements that will likely make it a superior choice once it is officially released. Whether you’re excited about the new multitasking capabilities, the enhanced AR support, or the revamped Control Center, iOS 11 is shaping up to be a significant step forward for Apple’s mobile operating system.
